Robert (Bob) Alan Nelson 84, passed away at the Hospice of The Valley in Glendale, AZ at sunrise on March 22nd, 2023. He and his wife Gloria resided at The Garden Ridge independent living in Peoria, AZ. Bob was born April 30, 1938, to Gustaf A.S. Nelson and Isabell M. Oakley Nelson in Linden, NJ. He was the youngest of six children, four brothers Gus, Carl, Paul (all three are deceased) and George. Bob had one sister Virginia who is deceased. Bob attended Sunnyside Junior High and Tucson High School in Tucson, AZ. He enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles and had many friends whom he still was in contact with until his passing. Bob married Gloria Jean Halt on August 6, 1960, in Tucson, AZ. When they were first married Bob worked for Meadow Gold Dairy. He then went to work for Holsum Bakery for 15 years. Bob was the Sales Manager for Arizona and Southern California when he chose to change industries. Bob went to work for a distributor of packaging supplies where he learned the business. In 1980 Bob and Gloria started their own company Nelson Packaging Supplies, Inc. They sold it in 1987. At the time of the sale, they employed 45 people. While honoring their non-compete agreement Bob and Gloria bought a fifth wheel trailer and traveled. They then started another company Nelson JIT Packaging Supplies, Inc. in May of 1994 with two of their sons Jon and Greg. Bob and Gloria retired from this company in 2010 to enjoy their vacation home in Pinetop. They enjoyed golfing and socializing with friends.
In 1991 Bob and Gloria sold their home in Phoenix and purchased a home on a golf course in Sun City. In 2021 they decided they were ready for independent living. Bob was a gentleman, very compassionate, loving husband, and father and along with Gloria they raised their boys to be respectful compassionate men. Bob’s family and extended family were a very important part of his life. Survived by his spouse Gloria and three sons Jeff, Jon and Greg. Also, two grandsons, three granddaughters and five great grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on April 12th, 2023, 10a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Parish, 9728 West Palmeras Drive, Sun City 85373. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice of The Valley. Their address is 1510 East Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014 or go on their website HOV.ORG.
Wesley C Biggs was born March 2,1933 in Denver, Colorado to Lonnie and Viola Biggs. He had two younger brothers Gene and Melvin and a half -brother Mike. On February 9, 1957 Wesley married the love of his life, Peggy Jo McWilliams, and their 65 year love story began.
Together they have 3 children Don (Lila), Carrie (Brad), and Mike (Wendy). Wes was a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren, he adored them all.
Wesley served in the United States Army where he had the opportunity to travel through Europe. He served for eight years and was awarded the Army Occupational Medal, National Defense Service Medal, as well as a Good Conduct Medal.
After his military service he started a career at the Denver Water Board and retired in 1999 after 45 years.
While Wesley enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, boating and traveling, his greatest loves were his wife, dancing and the ranch. Spending time at the ranch is where he found peace.
He was dedicated to being an integral part in the lives of his family and friends. He lived life to the fullest, loved with all he had and enjoyed every moment. We are grateful for the time we shared and he will be truly missed.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made to Saint Jude Children’s Hospital.
Cris Richardson, 67, passed away on March 19, 2023 in Waddell, AZ.
She was born on July 29, 1955 in Evergreen Park, IL to Dolores and Laurence Prouty. She was the second of four children and spent her childhood in Waukegan, IL. She married her husband, Kevin Richardson in 1985 after he moved her across the country to Arizona. They met working together at Peterson Gallion in 1983 where she was an accountant and Kevin was a concrete foreman. Together, they raised two daughters, Codi and Kathryn, and were the doting grandparents of Joshua and Dakota.
Cris worked as an accountant for various companies in the construction industry until she started a business with Kevin in 1999, for which she obtained her contractors license and performed the accounting for over 20 years. She was an inexhaustible caregiver for those she loved, strict when she needed to be but always warm and quick to forgive. Cris lived her life being unabashedly herself and could always be relied on to fill a room with her laughter.
She was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in 2013 and spent the last 10 years beating the odds. She exuded kindness and was the light of our lives. We will love you forever, we will like you for always.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Cris on March 23, 2023 at 1:00 PM at the Menke Funeral Home. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Ohio State Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Virginia “Ginny” (Washam) Lydic, 89, passed away March 14th, 2023 in Surprise, AZ.
She was born July 13, 1933 in Phoenix, AZ to Walter and Helen Washam. Ginny was the youngest of the 5 children from that union. Ginny spent her childhood growing up on the homestead in Surprise, AZ. She was athletic in High School, and was on both the Volleyball team and Cheerleading Squad. She married her HS Sweetheart Clarence Lydic in 1953 and they enjoyed 66 years of marriage until his passing in February 2020.
During their marriage they spent most of those years living in the Peoria area, raising their 4 beautiful children. Clarence built their lovely ranch style house in the early 1970’s where grandkids grew up and family often gathered. Ginny worked for a short time at Sperry, but spent most of her life as a Homemaker. She was a wonderful Mother and Grandmother and enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling, cards and other activities as well.
After Clarence's retirement they enjoyed traveling in their RV. They would travel to Missouri where they had a second home for sometime, and to see Grandchildren in other states. They also were Wagon Masters for Alaska trips and very much enjoyed that time and those adventures. From 1994-1996 they moved to Russia where Clarence worked in the US Embassy and Ginny worked for the Commissary and Post Office. They did a lot of traveling and sightseeing while over there and really enjoyed that time.
They finally settled in Sun City and enjoyed card games, and visiting with family and friends from all over. There are many words to describe Ginny, she was more than a Mother, Grandma, Sister, Friend, she was loving, warm, kind, compassionate and above all giving. Her love and faith in the Lord was unwavering, she was faithful in prayer daily. Ginny was always there when you needed her, and even when you didn’t think you did. She will be greatly missed, and always wonderfully and fondly remembered.
Ginny was preceded in death by, Husband Clarence Lydic, Daughter Melinda Guiliani (Mark), Grandson Brad Lydic (Stephani), Grandson-in-Law Dustin Williams (Tricia), Parents Walter and Helen Washam, Brother Robert Washam, Sister Lucille Little.
Ginny is survived by: Brother Clarence Washam, Springfield, MO, Sister Evelyn Wimbs, Arkansas.
Children: Chuck (Traci) Lydic, Sandy Salyer (Cleve Johnson), Steve Lydic.

Sergeant Major (US Army retired) Roberto Mata, 93, passed away on March 13th, 2023, in Sun City, AZ. He was originally from Mercedes, Texas and served his country for almost 30 years in uniform. His military service started with the National Guard unit in Mercedes with the Texas 49th Armored Division. He attained the rank of first sergeant when the unit was activated during the Berlin Crisis and ordered to active duty at Fort Polk, LA where he served for 1 year. He was recognized as an outstanding senior non-commissioned officer. After release from active duty, he pursued a military career and enlisted in the regular army. He served as a US army recruiter and retention NCO for 22 years where he attained the rank of Sergeant Major, the top enlisted rank in the US Army. He became an icon serving with the US Army Recruiting Command serving in the Rio Grande Valley, TX, Houston, TX and Oklahoma City, OK.
Some of his decorations and awards include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Professional Development Medal, and also the Coveted Gold Recruiters Badge plus many other awards and letters of commendations.
Roberto or Bob (Beto), as friends and family called him, enjoyed life to its fullest. He loved the camaraderie and friendship with the veterans of the American Legion Post 29 in Glendale, AZ and the American Legion Post 172 in Mercedes, TX. His words of wisdom and tall tales will live on the lives of those he has encountered in his adventures.
Above all, he loved his family and would travel extensively to spend time with nieces, nephews, and siblings. Everyone knew when Uncle Beto was in town.
Roberto was preceded in death by his dear wife, Laura Mata, and his youngest daughter, Leticia Jean Mata, as well as his parents, Amalia and Refugio Mata, and siblings, Rodolfo Mata, Josepha De Los Santos, Gonzalo Mata, Francis Covacevich, and Mary Goolsby .
He leaves behind his daughters Cynthia Mata Dailey (Michael), Amalia Mata Pena, and Deborah Mata Headley (Kyle) as well as eight grandchildren, Jaime Garcia (Laura), Alfredo Aguilar (Samantha), Daniel Garcia, Roberto Aguilar, Erica Pena, Leticia Headley, Robert Pena (Evy), and Kasey Headley and five great-grandchildren. His remaining siblings include Bertha Shotwell (John), Martha Segura (Joe), Jose Israel Mata (Mary), Juan Manuel Mata (Olga), and Luis Mata plus dozens of nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.

Dr. Edwin James Clinger passed away on March 7, 2023 in Peoria, Arizona. Ed was born on March 3, 1923 in Jackson Township, Hardin County, Ohio. Ed was bound and determined to make 100 years, and he did! He was surrounded by friends and family on his 100th birthday and he even joined in singing happy birthday to himself.
Ed was the second of nine children born to Gail and Wilbur Clinger. Elsie Elizabeth Clinger Hummel, Phillip Charles Clinger, Joyce Ellen Clinger Loepprich, Julia Irene Clinger Weaver, Ann Louise Clinger Loeffler, Albert Benjamin Clinger, Ferne Lucille Clinger Allan and Frank Wilbur Clinger. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Elsie, Julia, Ann, his brothers Phillip and Albert, wives Doris Eileen Ralston Clinger, Joanne Perkins Clinger and his daughter Karen Eileen Mueller Thorsen. He is survived by his wife Fran Clinger, son James Craig Clinger and grandson, Asher. He also has two grandsons, Daniel and James Mueller, from his daughter Karen.
Ed graduated from Upper Sandusky High School and Ohio State University with both a bachelor and medical doctor degree. After medical school, he moved to Forest, Ohio and went into general practice for several years. Ed was very proud of the fact that he delivered 101 babies during this period of time. At the outbreak of the Korean War, Ed enlisted in the Army and served at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC. From there Ed decided to go to The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to intern as a Dermatologist. After completing his internship, Ed moved to Denver, Colorado and established a Dermatology practice near Porter Hospital. Upon retirement, he sold his practice and he and his wife, Joanne, moved to Sun City, Arizona. After Joanne’s passing, Ed married Frances “Fran” McEvoy on February 13, 2010. Over the years, they have been very active in the community and The Congregational Church of Sun City, both singing in the choir.
A Celebration of Life will be held on March 29, 2023 at 11:00am at The Congregational Church of Sun City, 18401 North 99th Avenue, Sun City. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dr. Clinger’s memory can be made to The Congregational Church of Sun City. The internment ceremony, with full honor guard, will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 12:30pm at the National Memorial Cemetery, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, Arizona.
Mary Ann Beers (Losinski)
November 11, 1939-February 28, 2023
Mary Ann Beers (Losinski) was born in Gary, Indiana on November 11, 1939 to parents Stanley and Mary Losinski (Boguslawski)
She was a graduate of St. Hedwig Grade School in Gary and Bishop Noll High School, Class of 1957.
Mary Ann went on to obtain her Registered Nurse Degree from St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Gary and graduated as a Nurse Anesthetist from Group Health Hospital School of Anesthesia in Seattle, Washington in 1978. She was employed as a Nurse Anesthetist in Central Washington, covering facilities in the cities of Wenatchee, Chelan and others. Many Central Washington happy mothers were thankful for her services, knowing her as the "epidural queen."
She was preceded in death by her husband David C Beers, parents Stanley & Mary Losinski sisters, Michelle Bednar and Elizabeth Losinski, great granddaughter Madelyn Katherine Bruner, brother Stanley (Stas) preceded her in death on February 11, 2023.
She is survived by her son Richard Walter (Phoenix, Arizona), and daughter, Kathy (Wendell) Bruner, Spokane, Washington, Grandsons, Dr. Justin Bruner (Melynda), Brandan Bruner (Sydney) and Dr. Cameron Bruner (Shelley), great grandchildren Brynlee, Matthew, Tristan, Millie, Daisy, James, Hailey, Chloe.
She is also survived by her sister, Ginny (Frank) Kitko, Brother, Frank (Nancy) Losinski, Wausau, Wisconsin and dear friend and significant other Edward "Ted" Smith, Sun City, Arizona, Debbie & Joe Carrasco, Diane & Basil Du Bois
